Sonic, Camaro and Equinox Named 2013 Automotive “Best Buys” by Consumers Digest

At LaSorsa Chevrolet, we’re proud to say that each and every vehicle we sell is designed by Chevy to offer the best possible features at the best possible price. But it’s not just us saying that. Consumers Digest thinks so, too.

The 2013 Consumers Digest Automotive “Best Buy” picks are out, and three Chevy vehicles – Camaro, Sonic, and Equinox – made the list.

Consumers Digest chooses its “Best Buys” based on which cars in each segment provide the most value for the price. Vehicles are driven under a variety of conditions and evaluated based on the standards of an average car buyer. Experts then assess each model on both design (including styling, ergonomics, seating and cargo space) and performance (including shifting, steering, braking, acceleration, ride quality and fuel economy).

“Value, as we see it, is based on purchase price and ownership costs relative to quality, performance and subjective factors, such as comfort and design,” says Randy Weber, publisher of Consumers Digest.

Weber and his colleagues saw plenty of value in the Chevy fleet.

The Equinox was honored with a Compact SUV “Best Buy” title for its fourth year in a row, owing to its stylish appointments, class-leading legroom, versatile MyFlex® rear seating, meticulous craftsmanship and money-saving 32 MPG highway.

Camaro zoomed ahead of the pack in the Sporty Cars category, and picked up its fourth consecutive “Best Buy” award. The legendary Camaro is known for its sexy exterior, powerful engine, and for taking drivers on an exhilarating ride.

2013-Chevrolet-Sonic-RS-side.JPGIn the Subcompact category, the Chevrolet Sonic made quite an impression on the Consumers Digest judges, picking up its very first “Best Buy” title. It’s no surprise why, either. The Sonic is the first and only car in its class to come with 10 standard air bags. It’s also the only car in its class to receive a 5-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety from NHTSA. Not only that, but the Sonic is the only small car that’s built right here in America and the only car in its class with an available turbocharged engine – offering up to 40 MPG highway. That’s a lot of “only”s!

So whether you want to head up to the cottage with kids, dog and skis in tow; zoom down the highway in high style; or just zip across town in comfort and safety – it’s good to know there’s a tested and approved Chevy for every driver, at every price point.

Chevrolet’s 30 mpg or Better Club

Fuel prices are high… and they’re not going to drop drastically any time soon, or ever. As fuel prices continue to rise, customers are more interested in fuel-efficient compacts and hybrids to find relief from the pump.

A recent survey of car shoppers on kbb.com found that 51% of respondents are now considering a smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicle. “GM’s strategic investments in four-cylinder and turbocharged engines, advanced transmissions and vehicle electrification have been very well timed,” said Mark Reuss, president of GM North America. “Three years ago, about 16 percent of the vehicles GM sold achieved at least 30 mpg on the highway. Today, that number is about 40 percent, and we have more new fuel-economy leaders on the way…”

What are the GM fuel economy leaders on sale today? Here is the lowdown:                    (all mpg totals are estimated)

So if you’re looking for an environmentally responsible car that fits your budget and your lifestyle, visit LaSorsa Chevrolet, we have plenty of options for you.

The Chevy for your Teenager

If you have teenagers, this post is for you, if you have a tween, keep this post in mind for future reference. They always need to borrow the car and summer break is only a few months away. They’ll want to borrow the car a lot more in the summer… to get to their job, their friend’s house or to an activity.

Let’s say you’re going to buy them their own car to teach them about responsibility. Vroomgirls.com recently compiled a list of ‘6 Best New Cars For Your Teenage‘.

Here’s what they had to say about the Chevrolet Sonic:

“Safety is the first concern of most parents who want to put their teen on wheels, and the Chevrolet Sonic is, so far, the smallest and least-expensive car to earn both a perfect five stars in the Government’s tough new crash tests and the coveted Top Safety Pick Award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). A strong body shell and a whopping ten airbags (most cars have only six) are key to the Chevy Sonic’s defenses. But we also like the Sonic’s simple, easy-to-use control layout, which promotes distraction-free driving and helps your teen driver avoid an accident in the first place. Teens will like the American-built Chevrolet Sonic’s modern, attractive styling, and whoever is paying the bills will appreciate the low price, with the air-conditioned Sonic LS base model starting well under $15,000.”

We have Chevrolet Sonic’s on the lot, so stop by the dealership we’ve got you covered!
